About Me

My Story

I am a North West based artist, primarily working in acrylics, with an interest in portraiture. My painting and who I look to, rests on those whose face have a presence; who wear their life experiences and simply fascinate me.

Art has always been my thing, drawing mainly. After leaving school in 1977 I very rarely ‘made’ art apart from the odd sketch but some 35 years later, in 2013, I completed an A level course in fine art, where I discovered a passion for painting, that has consumed and delighted me since.

My Style

My portfolio is connected by the very talented and creative Scousers I depict, choosing them as a means of celebrating their local, cultural significance. At first, I just wanted to see if I could capture a likeness by creating a portrait but after creating the first, which was Andrew Schofield, a Kirkby actor who I knew whilst growing up in the town, I found the challenge all-consuming, which I now recognise as the catalyst for the start of my Merseyside collection of portrait paintings.

I now teach for a number of art organisations for adults and young people across the Liverpool City Region, as well as continuing my painting practice.
